The N-GREEN Toolkit is now available in English

The N-GREEN project has reached an important milestone with the publication of the English version of the N-GREEN Toolkit, a practical resource designed to support Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), community workers, volunteers and local practitioners in promoting environmental sustainability at neighbourhood level.

The Toolkit has been developed to help local organisations move from environmental challenges to concrete community action. Rather than focusing only on environmental information, it provides a practical pathway for understanding a neighbourhood, involving local communities and developing sustainability initiatives through participatory approaches.

From understanding the neighbourhood to taking action

The N-GREEN Toolkit guides users through the different stages of developing a neighbourhood-centred sustainability initiative.

It starts by introducing the key concepts behind environmental sustainability and the neighbourhood-centred approach, with particular attention to the role that Civil Society Organisations can play in encouraging local participation and action.

Users are then guided through the process of understanding their local context, identifying environmental issues and priorities, mapping relevant stakeholders and planning how to engage the community.

The Toolkit also supports organisations in moving from ideas to action: defining local challenges, co-designing solutions with stakeholders, developing realistic action plans and adapting activities as they are implemented.

Communication, behaviour change and the assessment of results are also addressed, helping organisations not only to develop local initiatives but also to involve communities, communicate their activities effectively and understand the changes they contribute to.

Throughout the Toolkit, practical tools and templates help users apply these approaches directly to their own neighbourhoods.

A resource to be tested in local communities

The publication of the Toolkit also marks the beginning of a new practical phase of N-GREEN.

The resource will be used during the upcoming N-GREEN Hackathons, where participants will work together on real environmental challenges in their cities and neighbourhoods. These activities will provide an opportunity to apply the Toolkit, develop concrete local proposals and collect feedback from its potential users.

The experience and suggestions gathered during the Hackathons will help ensure that the N-GREEN resources respond to the real needs of organisations and communities working at local level.

More language versions coming soon

The English version is only the first step in making the Toolkit accessible to a wider European audience.

Italian, Danish, Spanish and Catalan versions will be published soon, allowing organisations, practitioners, volunteers and community members in the partner countries to use the resource in their own language.

With the N-GREEN Toolkit, the project aims to provide local communities with practical support to turn participation, collaboration and environmental awareness into concrete actions for greener and more sustainable neighbourhoods.

Stay tuned for the Italian, Danish, Spanish and Catalan editions and for updates on the upcoming N-GREEN Hackathons.
